Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2025
Welcome to AFK ATL. We’re the local event curators who believe the best things happen offline — but we still take your online privacy seriously. This page breaks down what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.
1. Who We Are
AFK ATL is an Atlanta-based digital platform that helps people reconnect with the real world, one event at a time. Our website address is: https://www.afkatl.com.
2. What We Collect (and Why)
We only collect what we need to help you find better events — not because we’re nosey.
Information you provide directly:
- Your email address (when you sign up for newsletters or submit an event)
- Event details, photos, and business info (when you submit a listing)
Information we collect automatically:
- Basic analytics data like browser type, device, IP address, and pages visited — so we know what’s working and what’s not.
3. How We Use Your Info
- Email you stuff you actually asked for (like event updates or weekly roundups)
- Improve our site’s design and performance
- Spotlight the kind of events you might actually leave your house for
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Spam your inbox
- Trade your info for VIP wristbands (we wish)
4. Cookies (The Boring Kind)
Like every modern site, we use cookies. These little bits of code help us:
- Remember your preferences
- Track general site usage
- Improve your browsing experience
You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer a more incognito vibe.
5. Third-Party Services
We use services like:
- Google Analytics (to learn what’s hot and what flops)
- Mailchimp or similar (to send newsletters with grace and style)
- Embedded content (e.g., YouTube, Instagram) that might track you too
These third-party tools may collect data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read them (but won’t blame you if you don’t).
6. Event Submissions & Uploaded Media
So you’re submitting an event? We love that for you — and for Atlanta.
You agree that:
- You have the rights to all the content you upload (event photos, logos, descriptions, etc.).
- You give us permission to edit and publish that content on afkatl.com and our affiliated channels (e.g., email newsletters, social media).
- You understand that submitted content may be indexed by search engines and viewed publicly.
We promise to:
- Use your content solely for the purpose of promoting your event or venue
- Give you proper credit whenever possible
- Remove or update submissions if requested (email us at hello@afkatl.com)
Basically, don’t upload anything you don’t want the internet to see — or that doesn’t belong to you. We’re building a hype machine, not a lawsuit magnet.
7. How We Protect Your Info
We use secure servers, SSL encryption, and general common sense to keep your information safe. No system is 100% hack-proof, but we do our best to act like responsible digital adults.
8. Sponsored Links & Tracking Disclosure
Some links on our site may be affiliate links. If you click on one and make a purchase, we might earn a small commission — with zero extra cost to you. We treat this as a win-win: you find cool things, and we keep the servers humming.
Affiliate links may use cookies or tracking codes to credit us. By using our site, you agree to this. We only partner with brands and platforms we genuinely like. You won’t find anything here we wouldn’t recommend at brunch.
9. Your Rights (Yes, You Have Them)
- Opt out of emails anytime (there’s a link in every one)
- Request a copy of your data
- Ask us to delete your info — just email us at hello@afkatl.com
10. Policy Updates
We may update this policy occasionally, usually when our lawyer gives us that look. When we do, we’ll post the new date at the top.
11. Questions? Concerns? Digital Panic?
You can contact us anytime at hello@afkatl.com. We promise not to ghost you.
